Introduction

Elow is your ultimate color companion, built exclusively for designers, developers, and digital artists. This privacy policy outlines how we collect, process, store, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile app, web platform, and related services. We prioritize your privacy by design, and have built multiple controls to let you choose how your data is handled while you extract color palettes, explore color harmonies, simulate color blindness accessibility, generate color code snippets (HEX, RGB, CMYK, platform-specific formats), and manage your personal spectral library.

By using Elow, you agree to the practices outlined in this policy. We only collect data that is necessary to deliver and improve our service, and never use your creative content for purposes you have not explicitly consented to.

Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data required to deliver our service, separated into three categories:

1. Voluntary Account Information

If you choose to create an account to sync your personal spectral library across devices, we collect your email address, custom username, and any optional profile details you add. You can use 100% of Elow's core features without creating an account, with all data stored locally on your device.

2. User Creative Content

Local-only mode: If you disable cloud sync, all images you upload for color extraction, custom palettes, tags, and project notes never leave your device and are never collected by our servers.
Cloud sync enabled: We only store the saved color palettes, tag structure, and project notes you add to your spectral library to enable cross-device access. We never store full original uploaded images unless you explicitly choose to back them up to your library.

3. Anonymous Usage Data

We collect non-identifiable aggregated data about how you interact with Elow features, including how often you use color blindness simulation, which color code formats you export most, and general interface interaction patterns. This data cannot be linked back to your individual account unless you explicitly opt in to share diagnostic data for support purposes.

How We Use Your Data

Service delivery: To sync your spectral library across devices, generate color code snippets in your preferred formats, save your palette organization structure, and enable color palette sharing features when you choose to use them.
Product improvement: To prioritize feature updates based on usage patterns (for example, if we see high demand for a new color format or accessibility simulation type, we will add it to our roadmap) and fix technical issues.
Optional communications: If you provide your email, we may send you important service updates, new feature announcements, and exclusive creative resources for design professionals. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
Support troubleshooting: If you contact our team for help, we may use your account and usage data to resolve your issue faster, only with your explicit consent.

Data Sharing Practices

We will never sell, rent, or lease your personal information or creative content to third parties for commercial purposes. We only share data in the following limited circumstances:

With your explicit consent: If you choose to share a custom palette publicly or with specific other users, only the palette content you select will be accessible to those parties.
Trusted service providers: We work with third-party cloud infrastructure and security providers to operate Elow. These providers are contractually required to only use your data to deliver services to us, and cannot access or use your data for their own independent purposes.
Legal requirements: If we receive a valid request for data disclosure, we will only share the minimum information necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations.

Your Rights & Controls

We put you in full control of your data:

Access & Export

Export your entire personal spectral library, including all saved palettes, tags, and notes, in standard open formats at any time from your account settings.

Edit & Delete

Modify your account information, delete individual palettes, or permanently delete your entire account and all associated cloud data at any time. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Local Only Mode

Disable cloud sync entirely at any time to move all your data to local storage on your device, so we no longer have access to any of your creative content.

Opt Out of Analytics

Turn off anonymous usage data collection in your settings at any time, with zero impact on your ability to use all core Elow features.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data transfers between your device and our servers are encrypted via TLS 1.3, and cloud-stored content is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. We conduct regular security audits and update our protection measures on an ongoing basis.

Note that no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we continuously work to improve our protection practices.

Children's Privacy

Elow is intended for use by professional creators and is not designed for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a user under the age of 13, we will immediately delete that information from our systems.

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our service practices or applicable requirements. We will notify you of any material changes at least 30 days before the new policy takes effect, via in-app notification or email if you have provided one. Your continued use of Elow after the new policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
